The A.P. Hemba Sports Complex of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas is one of the largest university sports facilities in Ukraine and the only one in the Ivano-Frankivsk region whose infrastructure meets international Olympic standards. The complex is the heart of the university’s sports life and at the same time, an important sports hub for the entire Prykarpattia, open to students, teachers, and the community.
Reconstruction and Opening
In November 2020, after a three-year journey of extensive reconstruction, the renovated sports complex solemnly opened its doors. All facilities and spaces were renovated according to international sports standards as part of the “Youth Sports Development in Prykarpattia” project, initiated by the university with the support of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration. The project’s implementation was under constant state monitoring: ministers, representatives of the National Olympic Committee, and sports federations visited the site. The first major test of the renovated stadium was the National Junior Athletics Championship, which took place immediately after the opening.
Infrastructure of the Complex
Stadium with a football field equipped with a modern lawn with an automatic irrigation system — one of the best football surfaces in the region. The field meets the requirements for hosting official competitions.
Athletics Running Tracks with state-of-the-art polyurethane rubber-bitumen coating meet Olympic standards and are suitable for holding nationwide competitions. The stadium is equipped with floodlights for evening training.
Athletics Arena — an indoor hall for year-round athletics training regardless of the weather. Opened in November 2020, it is a crucial facility for the development of athletics in Prykarpattia.
Pool — one of the key facilities in the complex, operating daily from early morning to late evening for children and adults. Organized group swimming for children of different age groups (from 7 to 16 years) and free swimming for adults.
Sports Halls for activities in football, volleyball, basketball, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, fitness, large and table tennis. The halls are equipped with modern sports inventory and equipment.
Thermal Recovery Room (Sauna)— a space for recovery and wellness after workouts.
Youth Sports Center
At the A. P. Hemba Sports Complex, there is Center for Youth Sports of IFNTUOG, which organizes the training process, holds competitions, and develops student sports. The center has nurtured generations of prize-winners in national championships and international competitions—among the university’s alumni are athletes who have represented Ukraine on the international stage. Student-athletes of IFNTUNG regularly win awards in national championships and confirm the level of training conducted here.
Open to the city
The A. P. Gemba Sports Complex is not just a university facility. At designated hours, residents of Ivano-Frankivsk can train at the stadium for free, and all paid services—swimming, football field rental, running tracks, sauna—are available to a wide audience at transparent rates. The complex is a true sports hub of Prykarpattia, hosting regional and national competitions.
Complex Name
Sports complex is named after Anatolii Pavlovych Hemba— in honor of a person whose contribution to the development of the university and the sports infrastructure of Prykarpattia is significant. The naming became a symbolic act of recognition of achievements and the university’s desire to preserve the memory of those who built its present.
