Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas participated in the strategic session “UKRAINE-AFRICA HORIZON 2030: Designing the Future, International Academic Cooperation,” which took place at the Hennadiy Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Participation in the large-scale international event included leading Ukrainian universities, representatives of government bodies, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and expert circles. IFNTUOG was represented at the event by the Director of the Institute of Oil and Gas Engineering, Volodymyr Bohoslavets.
The university also participated in the plenary session “UKRAINE-AFRICA DIALOGUE PLATFORM: The Past, Present, and Future of Relations” and the thematic discussion “Reparatory Justice: Ukrainian and African Dialogue” / “Reparatory Justice: Ukraine-Africa Dialogue.”
During the discussions, special attention was paid to the development of international academic cooperation, educational diplomacy, the formation of new partnership models between Ukraine and African countries, as well as the prospects for joint training of highly qualified specialists for strategically important sectors of the economy.
One of the priority areas of internationalization for IFNTUNG is the development of cooperation with African countries in the fields of energy, digitalization, engineering education, and the training of modern technical personnel.
The university has more than 25 years of successful experience in training specialists for African countries. Engineering and technical specialties related to the oil and gas industry, energy, automation, and information technology are traditionally in the greatest demand among foreign students.
Participants of the event separately emphasized the new opportunities opened up by the development of remote learning formats. It is the modern digital educational technologies that allow Ukrainian universities to actively engage foreign students even in wartime conditions and ensure high-quality training for international-level specialists.
Within the plenary sessions, meetings were held with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha. During the communication, further steps regarding the development of international partnership, the expansion of Ukraine’s educational presence in Africa, and the potential of IFNTUNG in training specialists for African countries were discussed.
Participation of IFNTUOG in international strategic platforms of this level is an important step in strengthening the university’s global presence, developing academic diplomacy, and creating new international educational opportunities for Ukrainian higher education.
