The Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Physicochemical Research Methods of Environmental Conditions at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas is a modern analytical unit combining educational and scientific functions. The laboratory is equipped with a wide range of instrumental tools—from spectroscopic and electrochemical equipment to field gas analyzers and meteorological systems—and provides comprehensive studies of atmospheric air, water bodies, and soil conditions. The laboratory is accredited and has the relevant certificates for conducting measurements.

Spectroscopic Equipment
Universal Laboratory Fourier Infrared Spectrometer FSM 1201 designed for conducting measurements and scientific research in the mid-infrared region of the spectrum. The Fourier IR spectroscopy method allows the identification of organic and inorganic compounds in water, soil, and air samples, determination of functional groups of pollutants, and examination of the composition of complex multicomponent mixtures without destroying the sample.
Photocolorimeter KFK-2 designed for measurements in the wavelength range of 315–980 nm. Used for photometric determination of concentrations of various substances in aqueous solutions by comparison with calibrated standards — one of the basic methods of chemical analysis of water and technological solutions.
Photometer digital Water-I.D. Pool Lab — portable photometer for rapid assessment of water quality indicators directly at the sampling site. Provides quick analysis without sample preparation in laboratory conditions.
Electrochemical Equipment
“Ecotest-VA” — voltammetric analyzer for quantitative and qualitative determination of heavy metals and electroactive organic and inorganic substances. The device determines ions of copper, lead, cadmium, zinc, nickel, cobalt, bismuth, manganese, mercury, chromium (trivalent and hexavalent), molybdenum, as well as iodine, selenium, arsenic, methanol, diethylene glycol, acetaldehyde, and formaldehyde. Voltammetry is one of the most sensitive methods for analyzing trace amounts of pollutants in environmental objects.
Ion meter I-160MI designed for potentiometric measurement of hydrogen ion activity (pH), activity and concentration of monovalent and divalent anions and cations, redox potentials (Eh), and temperature in aqueous solutions. Widely used in the assessment of natural and wastewater quality.
pH meter laboratory pH-150MI — a microprocessor device for accurate potentiometric measurement of hydrogen ion activity. Used in standardized analyses of water quality and soil extracts.
Oximeter / pH Meter / Conductivity Meter / Salinity Meter AZ-8603 (4 in 1) — portable autonomous laboratory for field analysis of water quality. Simultaneously measures dissolved oxygen, acidity, conductivity, and mineralization — a set of indicators sufficient for an initial assessment of the ecological state of a water body directly at the sampling site.
Portable Nitrate Meter H-401 designed for measuring the concentration of nitrates in water and liquid samples. Nitrates are one of the main indicators of anthropogenic pollution of water bodies and soils in areas of agricultural activity and near oil and gas facilities.
Device M-KHA1000-5 designed to determine the concentrations of heavy metals in environmental objects and food products using the method of inversion voltammetry. Heavy metals are key indicators of technogenic pollution of soils and waters in the zones influenced by industrial enterprises.
Titration Table provides a wide range of classical titrimetric analyses — acid-base, precipitation, complexometric, and redox titrations for the quantitative determination of components in aqueous and technological solutions.
Air Quality Control
Air Quality Analyzer CEM DT-9881 — portable mini-laboratory for environmental monitoring, which simultaneously determines: the content of fine particulate matter (dust) of different fractions (0.3; 0.5; 1.0; 2.5; 5.0; 10 microns), the concentration of carbon monoxide and formaldehyde, temperature and relative humidity of the air, as well as the dew point temperature. It is used to assess the air quality of work areas and premises.
Gas Detector-Analyzer “DOZOR-S M” — portable multi-component gas analyzer for monitoring the air in the work area for harmful substances: carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH₃), nitrogen oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), chlorine (Cl₂), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), oxygen (O₂), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and sulfur dioxide (SO₂). The device is a standard occupational safety tool at oil and gas facilities and industrial enterprises.
Meteorological and Microclimatic Equipment
Weather Station VANTAGE PRO2 Plus — professional automatic weather station for continuous monitoring of meteorological conditions. Measures air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction, precipitation amount, and solar radiation level. Data is used to assess pollutant dispersion conditions and calculate meteorological characteristics of emission sources.
Multifunctional Device ET-965 designed for comprehensive assessment of noise levels and meteorological parameters of the environment — temperature, humidity, and airflow velocity. Used for hygienic evaluation of industrial and public premises.
Thermometer-Hygrometer FLUS ET-951 — digital device with a built-in sensitive sensor for measuring air temperature and relative humidity. Used to characterize microclimatic conditions during sanitary-hygienic and environmental inspections.
Educational Process and Scientific Activity
Practical classes in analytical chemistry, environmental monitoring, environmental protection, and related disciplines are conducted in the laboratory. Students master instrumental methods for analyzing environmental objects, learn to collect samples, prepare them for analysis, perform measurements, and correctly interpret the results according to regulatory requirements.
In scientific terms, the laboratory provides analytical support for studies on the environmental conditions in the zones of influence of oil and gas facilities, conducts environmental assessments and monitoring on request from enterprises and authorities.
