According to Ukraine’s energy strategy until 2050, the country plans to significantly increase its domestic hydrocarbon production, liberalize oil and gas markets, and create an energy hub. There is a significant untapped potential: fields at great depths (over 6,000 m), unexplored reserves in the Carpathian region, the Black Sea shelf, unconventional deposits — shale, gas hydrates, and other resources.

Languages of Instruction
The program is available in two language formats:
- Ukrainian language of instruction— full-time and part-time forms.
- English as a Medium of Instruction— full-time form, for international students and those aiming for an international career. The curriculum in English fully corresponds to the content of the Ukrainian-language program, providing equivalent professional training.
Accreditation and Quality
The program is accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education of Ukraine. The educational-professional program is regularly updated based on consultations with stakeholders — leading oil and gas companies, including JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya,” ensuring that the content of the education meets the actual needs of the industry.
Content of Learning
The program covers the full cycle of engineering knowledge — from fundamental natural and technical disciplines to specialized industry courses:
- Natural Science Base: higher mathematics, physics, chemistry, general geology and geodesy, oil and gas geology, physics of oil and gas reservoirs, hydraulics and gas dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
- Engineering Training: engineering and computer graphics, applied mechanics, materials science in oil and gas engineering, oil and gas equipment, electrical engineering and power supply, fundamentals of automation of production processes.
- Core Disciplines: drilling of oil and gas wells, underground hydro-gas mechanics, industrial geophysics, development and exploitation of oil fields, development and exploitation of gas and gas-condensate fields, technology for enhancing oil and gas-condensate recovery from reservoirs, technological fluids in oil and gas production, offshore oil and gas technologies, modeling of oil and gas production processes.
- Digital Competencies:i nformatics and programming, modeling of oil and gas extraction processes using software packages from leading oil and gas companies worldwide.
- Practical Training: educational practice after the 2nd year and industrial practice at industry enterprises.
Elective Disciplines
Students have the opportunity to independently shape part of their study plan by selecting courses from the departmental catalog according to specialized blocks and from the general university catalog — to deepen professional competencies or broaden horizons in related fields. The selection is made through the electronic cabinet of the “Dean’s Office+” system.
